Joining us for our first interview in our new series #TheLegendsOfPorn is the legendary Porn Director Chi Chi LaRue.
I just really like making porn. I think that some of the best people I’ve met in my life are from this business.
Has there ever been a time that you have just wanted to walk away from it all, if so what made you want to walk away but in the end what made you stay?
Of course I’ve thought about walking away from it but I’ve been doing this for over half my life. I stay because I think I’m really good at it and what am I gonna do, sell shoes? LOL.
I think what makes me the maddest is the jealously and pettiness of some of the people in this industry.
I don’t think there’s enough space in this interview to go in to all that .. LOL.
Right now I would say there isn’t really any porn superstars. I also say that anyone that does these movies can call themselves a porn star and I agree, if you take you clothes off and fuck on camera you are a porn star.
When I first started directing movies there was nothing that helped with a hard-on except for the good old fashion dirty mind.
With things like the Internet and platforms like OnlyFans, we have to become more creative to sell our work.
Having been in the industry for a while, we are now in the age of ‘social media’ with all the various platforms out there. How do you think this has positively and/or negatively impacted the industry?
People feel a litle invincible and more brave on social media. They feel like they can say anything.
I totally understand the talent using platforms like OnlyFans, because it allows them to create and sell videos. I think it’s good for them but bad for studio porn.
In the age where more studios are filming bareback porn, back in 2006, you actually stopped working for a studio as they were filming bareback porn, has your views on this changed since then and if so why?
It was a straight company that I quit working for, Vivid Video.
My feelings on bareback have changed a lot. More on that later LOL. I will be shooting a bareback movie at some point.
Looking back through your entire back catalogue of work, which films are you most proud of and why?
If I had to choose my Top Five – they would be:
- Wrong Side of the Tracks
- Link Series
- Heaven To Hell/Earthbound
You recently hosted both the Prowler Porn Awards and The Grabby’s – there have been a number of ‘stories’ across some of the gay gossip sites – is there anything you wish to say on this matter?
I pay it no mind.
I say the same thing to everybody. Have something to fall back on.
Don’t make porn your full-time job. Save your money. Don’t let it go to your head. Don’t fall into the usual trappings and most importantly, be good to yourself and others.
